Enjoying Your Own Party

About Me

Enjoying Your Own Party

A few years ago, I went to the best party that I have ever been to. It was my friend's wedding reception, and I can't even begin to tell you how much thought and planning she put into the event. She had activities for everyone, and the atmosphere was amazing. Ever since that day, I have been trying to make the parties that I plan just as fun and interesting. Although my parties might not be up to snuff quite yet, I have learned a few tricks that might help you, too. Check out this website for more information on creating memorable events.

5 Ways To Elevate Your Wedding Tablescapes With Linens

The linens in your wedding reception tablescapes are an important part of building the right overall look. But how can you use linens and other table elements to elevate your design beyond just what everyone else is doing? The answer may be as simple as doing the unexpected. Here are a few unexpected ways you can surprise and wow your guests while developing your theme better.

1. Vary the Textures

When choosing linens for wedding tables, most people focus on the color. However, there's more to fabrics than color. You also have a wide array of texture choices. Most base linen materials are soft but sturdy. Build on that with other textures. Drape a velvet runner. Create woven placemats from jute, bamboo, or other woody materials. Add an overlay of lace. Or use bas-relief or sparkly fabrics for an interesting touch.

2. Use Your Resources

What do your tables, chairs, floors, or venue offer that you can embrace as an asset? Wood or faux wood tables, for example, add a rustic or industrial charm. They can add a unique feeling to a casual wedding or serve as a contrasting element for a more formal one. So you may want to use runners, napkins, mats, and other linens rather than cover the table with a cloth.

3. Find a Centerpiece Pattern

One great pattern in your design will take even the most neutral tablescape from drab to fab. The choice of patterns is as unique as your wedding. It might be floral designs, geometrics, faux stones, letters, or embroidery, for instance. However, don't overuse patterns in any tablescapes. Too many patterns will take away from one another and reduce or confuse the impact.

4. Add a Surprise

The best way to surprise your guests is to actually include some kind of fun surprise. This could be anything that's not normally seen in wedding table design. It may range from tassels and hand-dipped napkins to lace and fun jute features. Ideally, your surprise element is something that may take guests a bit to notice.

5. Pop With Color

The wide variety of colors available in both purchased and rented linens means you can find just the right colors to complement your plans. Try a bold or unexpected color for some elements of the tablescape, such as chartreuse runners, bold and muted combination settings, or metallic accessories.
